PIONEER ACRES OF ALBERTA
A Brief History
In 1969 several enthusiasts of antique farm power and equipment organized a day of demonstrations. This event took place on a farm at the intersection of highway 1 and highway 9 east of Calgary known as the Langdon Corner. That was the beginning of a 54-year tradition of threshing demonstrations.
The first thirteen annual weekend shows were held on the farm property at Langdon Corner. In addition to the threshing demonstration there were ploughing, draft horses and stationary engines.
Club members realized they needed a permanent location where they could host the show and store their artifacts. They found that location in 1983 and the next chapter in the history of the Pioneer Acres Plowmen & Threshermen’s Club of Alberta began.
